Gems and Jewellery sector in India, known for its craftsmanship and the variety, contributes approximately about 7.0 per cent to its GDP and provides employment to more than 40 lakh people. It is one of the largest sectors globally, contributing 29 per cent to the global jewellery consumption. The sector has immense scope for growth, fueled by both domestic demand as well as exports.
